When my family decided to open up a brewery, it’s hard to say whether I was initially more excited for the countless beer tastings or the design opportunities ahead. The handcrafted beers at Stony Run are inspired by history and made to pair perfectly with their menu of inventive pub-style food. The challenge in branding Stony Run was to capture a historical feel while remaining relevant to the modern craft beer scene, and then to develop a few alternate logos for the various applications.

DESIGN NOTES:
Everything at Stony Run, from the beers to the food to the old European-style decor, is done skillfully by hand. I wanted to capture that same sentiment in the logo, while also blending classic and modern design elements. My solution was to create a badge logo centered around an illustration of Stony Run, the namesake of the brewery and a historical local landmark, and a textured serif typeface in the outer band. The burgundy was chosen as the primary color because of its classic appeal.
